Friday Night:
What really happened “In the Beginning”?
Is it the case that the world was created from nothing? Does the bible really purport to tell us what happened “in the beginning?” Is the idea of the Big Bang totally incompatible with the account of creation in Genesis? What can we learn about the character called “God” from the way that character is depicted in the first chapters of Genesis, and what can we learn about ourselves?
Shabbat Morning:
Getting it Right:
What was the “Original Sin,” and what is its remedy?
Christianity understands “Original Sin” to be the indelible stain of inappropriate sexuality and lust. But a Jewish reading of the bible sees sin in general, and the first sin of humans in quite a different light. Find out what question Adam and Eve fail to answer in the right way, and learn what it takes to get it right in the end.
