Stepchild, Servant or Crown?
The Cultural Arts as Midrash, Memory and Mirror
in the service of Jewish Education
A lecture/workshop on the use of art as midrash in elementary and secondary education contexts. How can art be understood not merely as illustrative or ornamental, but as a text alongside the written texts of the Jewish heritage? How can it be read as midrash? How can it serve as a vehicle for collective memory? How has it been a mirror of Jewish life over the centuries?
