The previous Slonimer Rebbe, R. Shalom Noach Barzovsky (1911-2000) died only at the turn of the millennium, and so is a figure from a highly traditional community living in a distinctly postmodern world. His teachings were deeply psychological and reveal the text of Torah in ways that few before or since have done. We will be looking at his readings of some of the plagues in Egypt, which he views in transpersonal terms. His interpretations are concerned with the study of humanity's highest potential, and with the recognition, understanding, and realization of unitive, spiritual, and transcendent states of consciousness.
