General Resources for the Region

  • Central Europe Online is a daily free web publication that carries information on the economics and politics of most of the east European Countries

  • Business Central Europe has good currrent coverage of the region. It also has an excellent statistical data base which provides the most up to date information on leading macroeconomic indicators for most Eastern Europe countries.

  • Economic Commission for Europe (ECE)An excellent site for research on recent developments in the transition economies of Eastern Europe. Much of the Annual Survey of the ECE, which covers both western and eastern Europe is accessible from this site as well as important selected charts and tables.

  • The European Bankfor Reconstruction and Developement (EBRD) was established in 1991 to foster the transition towards market-oriented economies and to promote private and entrepreneurial initiative in the countries of central and eastern Europe.

  • The Radio Free Europe Website carries news on the entire range of ex-Soviet Bloc countris and invites subscription to daily newsletters for East Europe and the former Soviet Union.
