Geneseo

SUNY Geneseo – 10th at NCAA's

Geneseo returns all but their number 1 and 2 from last years squad. These are big losses for the Blue Knights but of their returners, most are Juniors and Seniors (Dan Moore, Ross Huncovic, Andrew McCarthy, Brad Johnson, Adam Streb, Jim Tillapaugh, Mike McGrath, James Kopscay and Billy Holl) most of whom have NCAA experience as they have finished in the top 10 the last 2 years. They have two transfers: Nate Locket from UB and Bobby Pierpont (NYU) to add to this depth. Freshman class potential include Jon Gauthier and Will Haskell both from Rush-Henrietta.

NYU

NYU – 23rd at NCAA's

NYU once again will have a tremendous amount of depth and talent for this Fall (probably the best in the region) even with some heavy losses to graduation (Zarrilo, Keany, Buechel) and one transfer (Pierpont-Geneseo). They will return 5 of their top 9 from the end of the season in 2004 including: Kraska, Williams, Abdallah, McCarthy, Moschella, Popeson and Phillips all with exceptional track credentials of atleast mid 15:00-5k. Newcomers include: Geoff McGrane (9:16-3200), Joe Berardi (4th place MOC in NJ), Jay McDevitt (4:21 and 9:50) plus 4-5 additional first years that have run 9:50-55 range (15 total incoming FY's).

TCNJ

The College of New Jersey – 18th at NCAA's

TCNJ, the defending regional champions, also suffered a good number of losses to graduation (#1, 2 , 3 and 7), but is reported to have a good core of guys ready to step up. They will have a new Head Coach in Phil Jennings who has been at TCNJ as an assistant for the last couple of years. They will return: Brian Kopnicki, Kyle Alpaugh, Dave dos Santos, all three of which were 16-37th place at regionals as freshman and Anthony Arnold and Matt Randal. They will feel the loss to graduation of: Brian Donovan, Matt Molski, Joe Lacovara-Switzer, Robert Barger, Sean Lesniak. New incomers include: Greg Bull 1:57/4:21/9:42, Chris Guerriero 1:58/4:26i/9:41, Matt Dolan 9:43.

UR

University of Rochester

The Yellowjacket team will look to improve on last years 7th place finish as they return 8 of their top 10 (Lost #1 and 7). Key returners include: Kevin McGettrick, Chris Nolan, Andy Dylag, Dan Mueller, Drew Whitbeck, Joe Lust, Nick Roosa and Ben Snyder. They will add in transfer, Mark Stevens who ran 15:13 and 3:59 on the track in 2005 along with first year runners: Tom Berkke, Dan Chebot, Dana Kaplan and Tyler Keift who all are reported to have "good" out of state HS careers.

Brockport

SUNY Brockport

The "Port" graduated 3 of their top 5 from last year's squad. They will return: Ryan Kolb (15:02-5k), Andy Beringer (15:46-5k), Andy Pruckno (15:44-5k) and Steve Rettke (1:58-800). They have several newcomers who will look to make an immediate impact.

St. Lawrence

St. Lawrence

The "Saints" will have a solid group of returners this Fall with Jon French (the top returner in the region), John Gaudette, Kevin Emblidge, and John Ostler. They will also add Eric Donohoe to the mix (9:26-3200m) who was injured for a majority of the 2004 season. Senior Jim Hall has shown huge improvements and Ben Meade (a consistent top 5 runner, who wasn't able to run at regionals in 2004) should add some depth along with Aucter, Alvarez, and Greenberg. First year impact runners include: Mark Burnham, MA (1:59-800) and Matt Millard, Canada (4:08-1500).

Plattsburgh

SUNY Plattsburgh

Plattsburgh will be another program who will have a new head coach this Fall. Cortland graduate John Lynch will take over as the Head Coach of Cross Country for the Cardinals and will return their entire top 7 with the exception of their #2 runner Alex Jinks. They have a young team as well that includes one of the individual contenders in the region in Matt DeShane (5th last year) and would be the 2nd place returner in the region. They add in a strong first year class which includes Joey Cloke and Drew Cartwrigth.

Ithaca

Ithaca College

Graduated 3 of top 7 from Regional team but return the 10th place runner, Pat McGreal. They have two transfers and 14 freshman. The transfers include Kyle Miller from Clarkson and Seth Tucker from Mansfield, both with mid to high 28:00 8k times.

Cortland

SUNY Cortland

No Report - Lost maybe the most of any top team in the region and will have a new Head Coach this Fall in Matthew Moran. They should return their number 1 and 3 runners and will have some work to do after that to fill the shoes of their losses, however they should have two very solid runners at the front with Andy Cloke? and Fred Joslyn.

10
13
Clarkson

Clarkson

No Report - but should return all but their #3 and #4 runners from last years 13th place team. Sam Morse is a solid runner who finished 18th in the region last year and their #2 runner will be a sophomore this Fall. A young team that came a long way last year and should maintain their leadership up front.

    Other Teams to Watch

  • RIT - 10th last year (Lose 4 or top 7 to graduation and co-op (Jesse Williamson). Two key freshman should help replace some of the loss. Jared Burdick (Fayetteville-Manlius, 2nd at NYS 3200m) and Jimmy Wong (4:22 1600 and 16:05 from California).
  • ROWAN - No Report - 12th last year
  • VASSAR - Lost #1 and 2 but have a young developing team, a new coach (James McCowan-1997 Regional Champion) and 5 new freshman
  • Alfred - No Report - 14th last year
  • Hamilton - No Report - 15th last year
